Day 20 ~ Half-Way

Day 20 seems like a great spot to pull over, take a seat in the sun and gather our thoughts on being half-way through this season of Lent. So, let’s grab a cuppa something and have a visit. =)

The decision to take another trip through daily Lenten blogging was made thoughtfully and prayerfully, as I knew this particular season of life is a new one for me. In thinking about what that might look like, the one thing I was certain had to remain was the commitment to the themes that have been the framework of this gathering space since it first began in 2012, that though life can be incredibly hard, and suffering is very real, there is always hope, and you are never alone. Anything short of that, for me, would be doing a half-service to the intention and I never want to stop short in that pursuit.

Not that I haven’t only gone half-way in lots of other places in my life! My closet has stashes of unfinished projects, pictures that I’ll organize some day, bins with labels that aren’t labeled and journals begun and set aside after the first few pages. I like to think of it as having many, diverse interests! And I can also recognize in myself a passion for beginning new things that lose their interest when the initial excitement fades….

And, I’m guessing……I’m not the only one who struggles with half-wayitis. =)

There are so many things to distract us these days! But the two things Jesus said were the most important to focus on were to simply love God and love others. These aren’t just spiritual suggestions. They aren’t rainy day projects we can set aside when we aren’t in the mood, or half-finished journals gathering the dust of good intentions. They are the very things that heal and transform us as we grow into the likeness of Jesus and that is the WHOLE purpose of Lent.

As we move into the second half of this season, I don’t want to stop short of what God wants to teach me, to heal in me and to transform in me. So, I guess that means I’m all in!

I look forward to the second half of our journey together! It wouldn’t be the same without you. =)

All the Love,

Shellie
