Day 27 ~ Fully Known

27It’s Friday night, y’all! We made it through the week, now the weekend is picking up and the overall feeling I have as I sit down to write on Day 27 is…….

…..tired! =)

I’ve had some very late nights this week, and even now I’m doing that thing you do where you relax and close your eyes in an effort to “concentrate” only to be jolted by the “what just happened?” sudden head-drop and rush of adrenaline that comes from realizing that, yes, you are quite literally falling asleep on the job!

And then I remind myself that God is fully aware of my schedule, and he also knows how important it is to me to write something that is meaningful, hence the closed-eyed concentration that leads to the sudden head-dropping. =)

I love that God knows me so well, and I usually think of that in terms of “knows my heart….my sorrow….my need for him…” and the like. But tonight I’m also settling into the idea that God doesn’t just love me. He really likes me, too.

fully knownTonight we had dinner at a local restaurant much like we’ve done a dozen times before, but this dinner was exceptionally blessed by having Kelsey with us! She hasn’t been home in what seems like forever (which, when fed through the mom-speak translator, actually means several weeks…) and the three of us talked and laughed non-stop as we waited outside to be seated, as we were waiting for our meal, all through dinner and even walking out the door. After talking for several minutes in the parking lot, half-in and half-out of the truck, someone finally pointed out the fact that we could just keep talking at home, where it was warmer. =)fully known 3

There’s comfort in being with those we know and love so well, being assured they know and love us in return. If our little family can take such joy in just being together over a meal at Applebees, how much more does God find joy to just be with us?

So, tonight as I raise the white flag of surrender on my need to catch up on much-needed sleep, I want to share a song by Tauren Wells that reminds us that we are not only fully loved, but fully known by God, and it does seem like a “ridiculous grace” sometimes that we have full and free access to the God of creation. He invites us to come and just be known and loved for awhile while he quietly works on untangling the mess we so often carry around with us.

Fully known…..

Fully loved…..

Ridiculous grace!

Much love,

Shellie

Fully Known
Tauren Wells

It’s so unusual it’s frightening
You see right through the mess inside me
And you call me out to pull me in
You tell me I can start again
And I don’t need to keep on hiding

I’m fully known and loved by You
You won’t let go no matter what I do
And it’s not one or the other
It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace
To be known fully known and loved by You
I’m fully known and loved by You

It’s so like You to keep pursuing
It’s so like me to go astray, ooh
But You guard my heart with Your truth
The kind of love that’s bullet proof
And I surrender to Your kindness, oh

I’m fully known and loved by You
You won’t let go no matter what I do
And it’s not one or the other
It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace
To be known fully known and loved by You
I’m fully known and loved by You
How real, how wide
How rich, how high is Your heart
I cannot find the reasons why
You give me so much
How real, how wide
How rich, how high is Your heart
Now, I cannot find the reasons why
You give me so much
I’m fully known (fully known) and loved by You
You won’t let go (no you won’t let go) no matter what I do
And it’s not one or the other
It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace
To be known fully known and loved by You
I’m fully known and loved by You
It’s so unusual it’s frightening
I’m fully known and loved by You
