I went for a long drive and spent the afternoon with a dear friend laughing, eating, exploring, ooh-ing and aah-ing over spectacular spring flowers, enjoying the skies turn from sunny to rainy and back to sunny again and also getting in some much needed heart to heart sharing. On the way home, I stopped briefly at the cemetery and left some fresh sunflowers and yellow marshmallow peeps. I never know how a visit will go – sometimes it wrecks me and sometimes, like today, I just talk to Brett about what’s going on in our lives, tell him a dozen times how much I love and miss him and give him the laundry list of things I would like for him to approach God about on my behalf! (No, really….I do….mostly because I like to imagine him rolling his eyes.) Then a beautiful drive home with me trying to take pictures of the setting sun from the moving car with one hand and driving with the other. (Kids, don’t ever do this!)
Good days are to be noted. And also treasured. There was a time not so long ago when they came all too infrequently and I sometimes wondered if they were gone for good. But they weren’t – and they aren’t. There will be more punch-in-the-gut-grieving days, and plenty of ordinary days where I just do the best I can with what I have for that day, but there will also be good days! And I never want to take them for granted.
We’ve done some hard work for the first 15 days of Lent – reflected on our relationship with God, our disappointments and heartaches, finding courage and surrendering our brokenness. At the end of this grace-filled, good day I think it’s time to pause, breathe deeply and just remember who our awesome, loving, God is. He’s worthy of my praise even if He never does another single thing for me! On this day, I don’t want to ask Him to fix anything or answer any questions or seek the things I do so desperately need that only God can provide. There will be time for that in days to come – we’ve still got 24 to go! I am learning that worship is the key that unlocks my understanding of the heart of God. It’s how we step closer into
Will you just thank God with me tonight for who He is, and for the gift of Jesus? I know it’s sometimes hard, and if that’s where you are tonight, I understand! More importantly, God understands and loves you so very much……always and forever.
So thankful for you,
Shellie ♥

Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
Jesus, the name above every other name
Jesus, the only one who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
Holy, there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
Show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
