Twenty-five days….and twenty-five songs. That’s a lot of music! I do hope you’re finding the time to listen, because each one is not only a part of each day’s meditation, but actually the inspiration as well.
When I considered picking up this Lenten blog again this year, I honestly wasn’t sure I would be able to find things to share that would be of value to others at a time when I was still trying to gather up my own scattered pieces of life and faith. All I had been doing by way of connecting with God was going on long walks and listening to music as I did. Lots of walks. And lots of music. =)
So, as I was trying to tell God it was a crazy idea and maybe next year I would be in a better place to think “spiritually”, God….as God always does….asked me to go a little deeper. If these songs were helping me connect with Him from such a hurting place, then maybe they would connect with others as well….(and I also believe God knew that in the struggle to find words each day I would have to lean into Him, which is exactly where He longs for me to be!) How does He do that? How does He ask me to follow Him more closely and make me feel so very loved at the same time? <3
I really couldn’t say it any better than these beautiful lyrics, sung by All Sons and Daughters. God invites us to go to higher and deeper places with Him than we’ve ever been before, and it’s always our choice. Sometimes I really want to “sit and wait” for all God’s goodness, and stay in one place, hoping to have the kind of relationship that I long for. But He wants so much more for me….for us! So He calls us to come…to trust…to follow.
Being led higher and deeper with you,
Shellie <3
“Called Me Higher”
All Sons and Daughters
I could just sit and wait for all Your goodness
Hope to feel Your presence
And I could just stay
I could just stay right where I am and hope to feel You
Hope to feel something againAnd I could hold on
I could hold on to who I am and never let You
Change me from the inside
And I could be safe
I could be safe here in Your arms and never leave home
Never let these walls down
But You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You lead me Lord
Where You lead me
Where You lead me Lord
And I could hold on
I could hold on to who I am and never let You
Change me from the inside
And I could be safe
I could be safe here in Your arms and never leave home
Never let these walls down
But You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You lead me Lord
Where You lead me
And I will be Yours, oh
I will be Yours for all my life
And I will be Yours, oh
I will be Yours for all my life
And I will be Yours, oh
I will be Yours for all my life
So let Your mercy
And I will be Yours, oh
I will be Yours for all my life
So let Your mercy light the path before me
Cause You have called me higher
You have called me deeper
And I’ll go where You will lead me Lord
Where You lead me
Where You lead me Lord
